Ten Years Later

Last night I met up (on Zoom) with some university mates I had not seen for nearly a decade. A group of 9 of us led the Christian Union together for a year at Birmingham University with a heart to reach that campus for Jesus.

In our virtual conversation we caught up, we laughed, we reminisced and we were reminded about how good God has been to us. We have all been through ups and downs in the past decade but the truth is that God has never let us down, He has always been faithful and we continue to see His hand at work in our lives.

God was good to us then. He has been good to us over the past 10 years. He is being good to us now.

I found myself this morning feeling grateful that the whole of this group still had a very real relationship with Jesus. They love Him more than ever. They have grown more like Him. They want to see His Kingdom come. They want to see people give their lives to Him. I am reminded of what Paul said in Philippians 1:6 that 'he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.'

God does not stop working in us when the circumstances change. Even in the ebb and flow of life, God still has a plan and purpose for us.

My prayer for us is that whatever we are going through at the moment, we will still know Him working in us. My prayer is that we will know God's goodness even if we are waiting for circumstances to change. My prayer is that when we look back in 10 years time we will know that God has continued His work in us.

And my prayer is that the good work He is doing in us as a church will be carried on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you,
