Cascading Light

Today, as part of my devotional time, I read 2 Corinthians 4: 6. You might have read that a few days ago too as part of our Wellspring reading plan.

Remember how Paul wrote:
“For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Lockdown has brought into my awareness how darkness can easily hide in my heart. Negative thoughts, fearful feelings, selfishness and sin – all can loom and linger within me.  Yet in the beginning of time God spoke light into darkness and he went on to make a way for light to come right into my heart.

The Passion Translation describes Jesus in this verse as; “the one who has cascaded his light into us." I love this! It reminds me of standing under the Cascades water fall in Burkina Faso with water pouring, cascading, on top of me. The soaking not only saturated me but triggered a hilarious joy.

I am choosing today to position myself under the cascading light and love of Jesus. Opening myself so that his will saturate my every thought and feeling. Can I encourage, you my friend, to do the same.

Blessings,
