Leaders

Tim and Helen Roberts have been Team Leaders of WCC since 1998; they have been members here since 1995. Tim and Helen met whilst serving with Norwich Youth for Christ; they  married and came to the Watford area in 1994. Tim earned a Bachelor’s degree at London School of Theology while Helen worked in hotel management. They live in North Bushey and have two daughters, Bethany and Hannah, and a son called David. 

The call on Tim and Helen's lives is to serve by leading (and lead by serving) a radical, wholehearted church that is overflowing with the Holy Spirit and well-grounded in the Truth of the Bible. Tim's focus is on leading the team, teaching and missions, while Helen's heart is focussed on leading Community Kids. Tim serves and leads in various ways amongst Watford’s churches, is the Moderator of Christians Across Watford and plays an active part in town-wide initiatives. He is also AoG World Ministries Geographical Director for Africa North, spending several weeks a year overseas encouraging church-planting leaders and supporting relief and development programmes in partnership with local churches.

Senior Leadership Team

Good biblical leadership in a local church is not about one man (or couple), but about teamwork. Also on the Senior Leadership Team are:

Arthur Shivas, of Croxley Green, has been married to Susan since 1975 and they have two grown up children.  Arthur is our Associate Pastor, working full-time as an Elder with a passion for seeing the church full of compassion for a hurting world.  He is a former bank manager, LST student, and for 8 years managed a homeless hostel in Watford. Both he and Susan - a civil servant - grew up in Scotland and have been in Watford since 1984.

Kevin Gomez, set apart as an Elder in November 2006, is married to Catherine and they have two teenage children. They have been part of Watford Community Church for many years. Kevin is a SilverLink train driver by trade, and an evangelist at heart. Catherine works as a Teaching Assistant in a local school and together the Gomez family are very much committed to sharing the love of Christ with the local community.

Alex Lee heads up our worship team. He is married to Jo, who is very much part of the ministry, and they have a young boy called Matthew. Alex is an IT Professional working with Succeed Consultancy developing software for blue-chip companies; Jo continues on a part-time basis to teach in a local primary school. The Lees have a clear vision for our church family to grow as a place of wholehearted, passionate praise and worship.

 

Darren White and his wife Ann are passionate in their pursuit of a life-giving small groups that change our communities. Darren joined the SLT in 2005 and is responsible for our LifeGroup programme, with many interest–based groups taking place throughout the week and across the town, touching lives through friendship and community. Darren and Ann are both teachers by profession and have been part of WCC since 1996; they live in West Watford with two growing boys, Lewis and Zac.

Apostolic Oversight

Watford Community Church benefits greatly from the friendship and input of Ron Corzine from San Antonio, Texas. Recognizing Ron’s apostolic gifting, the Senior Leadership Team of WCC invited Ron to serve the church in this capacity in 2006.

Ron oversees Christian Fellowship International – a network of Churches in Mexico, New Mexico and Texas. He travels nationally and internationally motivating and challenging people to be effective in their call and ministry to their local church, their community, and the marketplace.

Ron's practical understanding of the Biblical principles of unity, honoring those in authority, and gaining influence through servanthood, have shaped much of his ministry.

Ron and his wife Anne were married in 1968. They have three children, five grandchildren and presently reside in San Antonio, Texas.

Directors

As a Charitable Company we do not have Trustees we have a Board of Directors made upof the Senior Leadership Team of the Church.

Staff

Nikki Williams works in our office as the church secretary. She and her husband Jonathan have been active in WCC for many years, and have two growing boys.

 

Robin and Julia Sanderson

Robin Co-ordinates our disciple-making initiatives such as our First Steps course for new Christians and School of the Word Sunday evening Bible studies. He also oversees our in-house and external communications. Julia is the church treasurer and assists with administration of the Church.

David Dodwell is our Youth Leader, enjoying a year's internship here at Watford Community Church with a specific interest in serving our secondary-school-age young people. Fresh from Mattersey Hall Bible College, David's passion is to see young people encouraged and inspired to emerge as leaders, not followers, of today's society.

 

In addition to this we enjoy the generosity of several volunteer office and community workers who give their time at various points in the year. Quite the team!
