To the Nations…
Our vision is to make Christ’s love known not just in Watford but in the nations as well. To this end, the church supports various teams and ministries.
At WCC, we are committed to exploring our part in fulfilling Jesus’ Great Commission — to make disciples of all nations. It is part of God’s plan for every Christian to have some level of involvement, through prayer and giving, into reaching people beyond our immediate locality; that is, to the ends of the earth. (See Acts 1:8.)
In all that we do we are seeking a relational context for our work. It is not in anyone’s interest to operate merely on functional levels and just send money to/pray for people we do not know. We want to partner with people, ministries and churches as God leads us, sharing together our strengths, experience, needs and prayer requests. We acknowledge that within God’s amazing work through his Church all over the world, there is a lot we can gain from each other.
AoG World Ministries
Tim Roberts has responsibilities within this team as Director to ‘Africa
North’, an area including countries from Cameroon northwards. Tim has
developed a UK team to help him in this work, which involves supporting
(through prayer and correspondence) AoG missionaries who have gone from
the UK into his region. The aim is also to develop partnerships with
indigenous ministries who are then trained and equipped to reach their own people and reach out to those in neighbouring countries. This ministry continues to develop, touching pioneer leaders in Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana, Sudan, Nigeria, Camaroon and coastal north Africa.
Robin Sanderson caught the missions 'bug' in 1993 and has never been the same since! He and his wife, Julia, were sent out by WCC to Timisoara, Romania in 1998 where they worked alongside a local student outreach ministry helping to establish an evangelistic English language school with a camp program in the summer. Upon their return to England in 2002 they ran the UK office of and international missions agency for 5 years. They now both work part-time for the church and missions continues to be their heartbeat with Robin spending up to 5 weeks a year on overseas trips to countires such as Moldova, Ethiopia and Slovakia.
Our missionaries in other nations
Pastor Daniel Ouedraogo, Koloko, Burkina Faso
In 2003 we ‘adopted’ Pastor Daniel from Western Burkina Faso. He is
married to Suzane and they have 7 children. They pastor an AoG church
in Koloko, as well as working with a team from Bobo-Dioulasso to plant
churches in neighbouring villages, including over the border in Mali. We
support Daniel through monthly giving and prayer with the assistance of
AoG’s World Ministries Team. A team from WCC will visit Daniel and his
family each year.
Pastor Teklu Wolde, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Teklu Wolde has been adopted as one of our missionaries. He lives in the
capitol of Ethiopia with his wife Salam and their children. Teklu is the
General Secretary of the Guenet Pentecostal denomination. We sponsor his
specialist work in training missionary pastors who are working in
unreached Muslim communities.
Pastor Driton Krasniqi, Prishtina, Kosovo
Driton is a pioneer church planter in this former Yugoslav republic.
Michal & Lubi Kluciar, Zlate Moravce, Slovakia
Originally both from Slovakia, Michal & Lubi spent over 5 years living and working in the UK as well as being trained at the International Bible Training Institute. They have been sent out by WCC with a long-term plan of planting a church. Click here for more info...
Resourcing the British Church in mission
We are glad to be associated with several ministries that are based in the UK with a mandate to develop, maintain, and broaden links between UK churches and work in our nations.
Ron & Gretel Hibbert, East-West Ministries
Ron and Gretel Hibbert have devoted the majority of the last 25 years to missions work. With stints in the military
and professional rugby league in his background, Ron has developed a
working experience in recent years of ‘taking the kingdom of God by
force’. He is one of a few key pioneers to establish churches in the
former Eastern Bloc countries of cold-war Europe. East-West Ministries was
founded to help these churches to grow and reach out to the then-unreached
peoples of the Balkans and beyond. Today, long after the fall of the iron
curtain, these churches are continuing to grow and new ministry
opportunities abound. Gretel continues to partner him in this
work, and we are glad as a church to be able to support them in it.
Arthur Shivas is also involved in East-West Ministries as a Trustee and
helps with their financial operations.
