Prayer
"Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks" Jesus once said.
Prayer is simply an outpouring of our hearts to God expressing the diversity of human emotions: joy, thankfulness, love, pain, anger, concern, compassion... Nothing about our lives is irrelevant, nothing is insignificant - God cares about it all.
Prayer is also a very clear statement of acknowledgement that we are not self-sufficient - we need God. This is reinforced by the body language that people for centuries have adopted in prayer: sometimes on their knees (expressing humilty), sometimes with arms raised (expressing submission) or with hands reaching out to God (expressing dependence).
Prayer requests can be shared via this website by clicking here; by filling in a "yellow slip" at our Sunday service; or by emailing them to yours@watfordocommunitychurch.org (these requests will be shared via a weekly email update to subscribers unless you ask for it to remain confidential).
Often on Sunday mornings at the end of the service there is an opportunity for people to receive prayer with a member of our prayer ministry team for healing or for any other issue they are concerned about. We will also visit people in their homes or in hospital to pray with them.
A very important aspect to prayer is that it is not only about God's willingness to hear and respond to the concerns of our hearts but for us to become aware of the things that our on His heart. When we spend time with God in prayer we often find that our focus shifts from our priorities to God and His priorities. This sometimes leads to people articulating what they are sensing and feeling from God which can be general or very specific.
Periodically we run a program called 24/3:Intensive Prayer where we encourage everyone in the church to take a one hour slot to pray privately or to come to one of the prayer meetings held during this three day period.
At WCC we make prayer a priority - giving space in our corporate gatherings whether small or large - to express our conviction that God is front and centre. Everyone in the church is encourage to get together with 2 other people to meet together regularly to pray. We call this a Prayer Triplet.
